Sydney Leroux is a standout soccer player, and one of the things that stands out about her are her tattoos. Her ink is visible in almost any clothing since she has tattoos on her arms, neck, back and feet.
For Leroux, a 25-year-old striker who has dual citizenship but plays soccer for the US women’s national team, her tattoos all have a special meaning, and many of them have to do with her mother, who raised her on her own.
“I love tattoos. It’s like a way to express yourself without saying anything,” she says.
Leroux estimates she has 15 or so tattoos, though she says some have morphed into one over time. In a video for My Ink, Leroux relates that she got her first tattoo when she was 13. She says she had a deal with her mother that if she scored 10 goals at nationals, she could get a tattoo. She scored 13 that tournament.
