Eric Wood sends great survivor pool tweet after win over Bears

Eric WoodPerhaps the most shocking result in Week 1 of the NFL season was the Buffalo Bills beating the Chicago Bears 23-20 in overtime on Sunday.

Both Doc and Del liked the Bears so much they locked them in for their Top 3 picks. So did last year’s LBS pick ‘em pool winner BMK. And guess what happened? The Bills pulled out the upset.

After the victory, Bills center Eric Wood sent this great tweet:

Survivor pools are ones where you have to pick one winner per week. You cannot pick the same team more than once in a season and you advance if and only if your team wins. Knowing that many people in survivor pools locked in the Bears, Wood’s tweet was highly appropriate. Well done and well said.

Eric Wood autographed the jockstrap a fan sent to him

eric-woodAfter being selected in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft, Eric Wood has played five seasons for the Buffalo Bills.

Offensive linemen generally aren’t the most popular players on the team, but they still sign more than their fair share of autographs for fans. Footballs, helmets, jerseys, and photos are a few items you would expect Wood to regularly sign his name on.

Not among the items listed above are jockstraps. But, that’s exactly what Eric Wood recently received and he obliged the fan’s request by autographing it.

Now that the foundation has been laid, Wood wants to see the bar raised.

Ok, Bills fans. Let’s see what you’ve got.

Kyle Williams, Eric Wood take shot at Jets for going to Dave & Busters before game

Dave-&-BustersThe New York Jets spent some quality time together at a local Dave & Busters on Saturday night before their game against the Buffalo Bills. Teams usually get together for a couple meetings and focus on resting up the night before game day, but the Jets decided to do things a bit differently. They then proceeded to be laughed out of Ralph Wilson Stadium with a 37-14 loss.

Did the Bills use the Jets’ trip to Dave & Busters as motivation? They certainly felt disrespected by it. Cornerback Eric Wood, who seemed offended, claimed there was “not much” talk about it before the game.

“It’s almost so in-your-face, it didn’t need to be said,” Wood told reporters, via the NFL Network’s Kimberly Jones.

Defensive tackle Kyle Williams was a bit more forward.

“I think we’ll stay off of Dave & Busters,” Williams said. “It didn’t work out very well for the other team that had a party there.”

The Jets entered Sunday’s game with a record of 5-4. Before their bye, they defeated a very good New Orleans Saints team. Prior to that, they were blown out in a 49-9 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. I can’t imagine Rex Ryan felt that his team was going to go on the road and beat Buffalo with ease. Perhaps he believed his team had done enough preparing with the extra week off. He was wrong.

Given the way Geno Smith played, I doubt skipping Dave & Busters would have yielded a different result.

Eric Wood Suffers Horrific Broken Leg

Let me caution you: this video is not for the easily disturbed. Up there in the same breath as Joe Theismann, Napoleon McCallum, and DeAndre Brown of Southern Miss, is this video of Eric Wood breaking his leg against the Jaguars Sunday. Let me warn you once again, don’t watch this if you can’t stomach gruesome injuries. I could only handle seeing it once.

What a crap way to end your rookie season if you’re Eric Wood. This guy was the second of two first-round picks by the Bills this year, taken 28th overall out of Louisville. He had started every game for the Bills this year but that won’t be happening next week. For the record, he did break his tibia and fibula as you could imagine. Yikes.
