Ex-Browns TE Darnell Sanders proclaims he is ‘Fittest Man on Earth’ in hilarious CrossFit Games video

Darnell SandersDarnell Sanders played tight end at Ohio State and then spent three seasons in the NFL from 2002-2004. The former fourth-round pick had 18 catches for 118 yards and two touchdowns in his brief pro career. Since his career ended nearly a decade ago, Sanders appears to have gotten into CrossFit to stay in shape and remain competitive.

Sanders even entered The Open, which is the first step towards qualifying for the 2013 CrossFit Games. He even recorded this hilarious video a month ago where he proclaims he is the “Fittest Man on Earth,” before joking about all his workout limitations.

The video made it to the CrossFit Games Facebook page Monday, which is where my CrossFit-obsessed cousin saw it and passed it along to us.

“The reason I signed up for the 2013 CrossFit Open is because I am the fittest man on Earth. Believe that,” Sanders starts off.

“Just leave out toes-to-bar — a girl beat me at it today — she’s the athlete of the month, though, so that don’t count. Leave out handstand push-ups unless we can do four pads — my arms are really long. Leave out rope climbs — black folks don’t like heights. We hate heights. Double unders — I need to practice more. If we do pull-ups, leave it by ten, because I start losing my grip after that. Leave out muscle-ups.

“Other than that, Rich Froning, you can’t even see me. Fittest Man on Earth right here, believe that. Darnell Sanders. Watch out for me in the 2013 Games.”

Here’s Sanders’ CrossFit profile for the 2013 Games. Sanders belongs to CrossFit Cleveland and will be competing in the Central East region.

If he doesn’t qualify for The Games, he may have a future in comedy.
