A’s announcer Jenny Cavnar completely whiffed on a home run call of a huge blast by Denzel Clarke on Friday night.
Clarke went 2-for-4 with a triple and 2-run home run in his team’s 11-2 win over the San Francisco Giants at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento, Calif. His 2-run home run wasn’t just a typical blast. Clarke crushed the ball an estimated 471 feet to left-center. It went so far that it landed on top of some netting well beyond the fence.
Cavnar described the hit as a “big fly ball.”

Fans felt that Cavnar completely undersold the call.

It's like she purposely ruins these calls

Could she show some enthusiasm for a ball that was just hit like 150 feet over the fence? not even a comment on the insane distance of that home run.

Even if the home run did not actually travel 471 feet, it was still a prodigious blast by Clarke, and the home run call from Cavnar didn’t do it justice. This wouldn’t be the first time she got called out for a bad call.
