Among the many fun things about sports is the possibility of seeing something rare while watching a game. What happened to Dexter Fowler on Wednesday falls into that category.
Leading off in the bottom of the first inning, Fowler hit a ball to right field that landed just out of reach of the diving Kole Calhoun. Fowler’s trip around the bases was for naught after realizing there would be no inside-the-park home run. That’s because the ball disappeared through a small opening in the base of the right field wall.

Dexter Fowler’s prize for his remarkable unintentional accuracy was ground rule double and perhaps being a little out of breath.
