Carlos Correa out for over a month with fractured rib

The Houston Astros continue to get bad news when it comes to injuries.

The team announced on Wednesday that All-Star shortstop Carlos Correa is being put on the IL with a fractured rib, and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

Correa was scratched from Tuesday night’s lineup with what was described as rib soreness after treatment. Meanwhile, the club also got bad news on Jose Altuve’s return.

Altuve was sent home from a rehab assignment because of “fatigue in right leg,” and his return now seems like it is still several weeks away as well. Add in that George Springer, still currently tied for the AL lead in home runs, is also on the IL with a left hamstring injury, and the Astros are going to have to survive the month of June with a trio of their top hitters out injured.
