Athletes (or former ones) running out of gas happens more often than you might think.
Michael Irvin live-tweeted an experience he had when his Hummer was on empty. Evan Turner’s Ferrari ran out of gas on a highway. The same thing happened to Andray Blatche. On Tuesday, it was Charlie Blackmon’s turn.
The tank of the Jeep the Rockies outfielder was driving on Tuesday apparently ran dry, leaving Blackmon on the side of the road. Thankfully, teammate DJ LaMahieu was there to document the moment.
LaMahieu tweeted the above photo of Blackmon filling the Jeep with a gas can along with the caption “Found this guy testing out the empty light in his car this morning. Didn’t quite make it @Chuck_Nazty.” As Blackmon put it on his Instagram account, he was “pushing the limit of the empty light.”
I think we’ve all that nervous feeling of wondering if we’re going to make it to the closest gas station. In this case, Blackmon obviously did not. And so, he joins the ranks of Michael Irvin, Evan Turner, and Andray Blatche.
