The Boston Red Sox received some troubling news on Sunday when starting pitcher Chris Sale was admitted to the hospital with a stomach issue, but it does not sound like the left-hander will be forced to miss his scheduled playoff start because of it.
On Monday, the Red Sox announced that Sale has been released from the hospital and cleared to rejoin the team Tuesday.
Good news from Red Sox: Chris Sale was released from MGH this morning and was cleared to rejoin the Red Sox in Houston on Tuesday. Sale went in on Sunday with a stomach issue.

Sale was unable to travel with the Red Sox to Houston on Monday, but he is not scheduled to pitch again until Game 5. He started in Game 1 of the series on Saturday and allowed two runs over four innings and left trailing 2-0. Boston lost to the Astros, 7-2.
It’s obviously good news that Sale has been cleared to return, but the situation is worth monitoring. Any ailment that lands someone in the hospital must be somewhat serious, and there have already been questions about Sale’s velocity and whether or not he is battling a shoulder injury.
