Buster Posey, the San Francisco Giants’ president of baseball operations, recently appeared on KNBR’s Murph & Markus show for a roughly 25-minute interview that covered the recent MLB Draft, the team’s selections, trade deadline plans, and first-year manager Tony Vitello’s performance.
The conversation appeared routine despite the Giants’ challenging 41-55 record coming out of the All-Star break.
However, the segment that followed took an unexpected turn. As hosts Brian Murphy and Markus Boucher discussed Posey’s responses, an unnamed KNBR producer conducted a microphone test, repeating “talk” before slamming Posey in an embarrassing hot mic moment.
“Yeah, I hear ya, I gotcha. I gotcha 100 percent,” The producer said, via SFGate. “Posey sucks, man.”
Neither host visibly reacted at the moment, but a subsequent caller referenced the comment. Murphy stated the station would investigate internally, while Boucher joked about a possible hack or AI interference.
The YouTube broadcast of the show was later removed.
The incident highlights ongoing tensions between the Giants’ front office and their flagship radio partner amid the team’s disappointing 2026 season. Posey has faced significant scrutiny as the public face of the organization’s struggles.
