Chris Sale suspended by White Sox for ‘destroying team equipment’
The Chicago White Sox announced on Sunday that starting pitcher Chris Sale has been suspended for five days following an incident in the clubhouse before Saturday night’s game.
In a statement announcing the disciplinary action, the White Sox essentially confirmed reports that Sale threw a fit over not wanting to wear throwback uniforms.

In what has turned out to be one of the most unbelievable stories of the MLB season, Sale was scratched from his start against the Detroit Tigers just before game time after he reportedly became irate over the team placing too much focus on its attire. Sale is said to have cut up several jerseys with a knife. You can read more details about the incident here.
The White Sox were entertaining trade offers for Sale before the outburst, so you’d have to think the left-hander is close to finished in Chicago.
