Red Sox reportedly interested in Chris Sale, Jose Quintana
Here’s one revelation that’s sure to put the strength of The MLB Sox Fraternity to the test.
According to a report by Jon Heyman of Today’s Knuckleball on Saturday, the Boston Red Sox are inquiring about Chicago White Sox starters Chris Sale and Jose Quintana. The Red Sox are said to be “greatly interested” in both pitchers, especially Sale.
The White Sox appear to at least be considering a full teardown this trade deadline and are receiving significant interest in both All-Star southpaws. They already reportedly turned down a massive offer for Sale earlier this week and have been getting the full-court press from the Texas Rangers as well.
Buster Olney of ESPN adds that the Red Sox are believed by some to be the team in the best position to pull off a Sale-type trade from a prospect abundance standpoint.
Perception of some in industry is that Red Sox have the most prospect firepower to make a Chris Sale type trade, if they want.

Boston already swung a deal with the Padres this month for another All-Star left-hander in Drew Pomeranz. Adding Sale or Quintana to the mix with Pomeranz, former Cy Young Award Winner David Price, and AL ERA leader Steven Wright would give the Red Sox arguably the deepest rotation in the league heading into the push for the World Series.
