The Chicago Cubs were furious with Willson Contreras for pimping what turned out to be a double.
Contreras hit for the pitcher in the bottom of the 5th inning Sunday with the Cubs losing 2-0 to the Cincinnati Reds. He drove a ball deep that looked like it would leave Wrigley Field, but it was held up by the wind and stayed in the park. Contreras, who has not homered since Aug. 1, stood at home plate and admired the ball because he thought it would be a homer.

He ended up scrambling just to get a double on the play. The Cubs ended up losing 2-1.
After the game, Cubs manager Joe Maddon said the display from Contreras was “horrible” and that the whole team didn’t like it.
Joe Maddon on Willson Contreras flipping his bat and standing at home plate on a double: "Horrible. I didn’t like that all. That will be addressed. The whole team didn’t like that.''

Contreras took responsibility, saying he was embarrassed about his behavior. He said he apologized to both teams for it.
Contreras: "I thought it was gone. I hit it super good … Thank God I was able to run hard and make it to second base because what I did was not good for baseball. … It was bad. I’m embarrassed with myself. I apologized to the pitcher and my team.''

Contreras is batting .260 with a .757 OPS this season. Victor Caratini has been catching regularly with Contreras struggling at the plate.
