Dave Roberts reveals gruesome details of Hyun-Jin Ryu’s groin injury
Hyun-Jin Ryu’s recent groin injury is definitely not for the weak of stomach.
Speaking with reporters on Thursday, Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed some gruesome details about the left-hander and the issue that forced him to leave Wednesday’s start against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the second inning. Roberts called the injury “severe” and said that Ryu tore muscle off the bone. He also said that the 31-year-old would be out until after the All-Star break in July, per Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times.

Ryu, who had been fabulous in six starts this season with a 3-0 record and a 2.12 ERA, was officially diagnosed with a left groin strain and placed on the 10-day disabled list. It has been a while since we have heard of an injury that gnarly in the baseball world, but a similar one in the NBA does come to mind.
