David Ortiz’s wife thanks doctors in Dominican Republic for ‘amazing care’
David Ortiz’s wife Tiffany has released several statements this week updating the former Boston Red Sox star’s condition, and the latest focused mostly on thanking doctors in the Dominican Republic.
On Wednesday, Tiffany thanked the medical staff at the Abel Gonzalez Clinic and referred to them as the “guardian angels” of the Ortiz family.

Ortiz was shot in the back and the bullet exited through his stomach, so it goes without saying that he is fortunate to be alive. Everyone involved deserves credit for helping his family avoid an unthinkable tragedy, but doctors in the Dominican Republic are the ones who performed hours of surgery and were able to stabilize Ortiz. He was then transported to Boston on Monday evening, where doctors performed “exploratory surgery” and declared that he is in stable condition.
Police in the Dominican Republic have released some new details of the attack on Ortiz, and they confirmed those who were involved were paid to attempt to kill the 43-year-old.
