David Wright reportedly considering neck surgery
The troublesome neck issues of Mets third baseman David Wright seem to be getting progressively worse, and now he may be forced to go under the knife.
Wright is discussing the possibility of neck surgery with Dr. Robert Watkins along with team doctors and will reach a final determination soon, according to a report by Anthony DiComo of MLB.com on Tuesday.

The 33-year-old Wright has been dealing with a herniated disk in the neck since May and recently received a four-to-six week timetable for his recovery. He was batting just .226/.350/.438 with seven home runs and 14 RBIs in 2016 before going down and has only appeared in 75 games the last two years.
Neck surgery might put not just the season but the career of the seven-time All-Star in jeopardy. Wilmer Flores has been solid as a stopgap option at the hot corner, but it’s likely time for the Mets to seek third base help from outside of the organization with Wright’s future now very much in doubt.
