The St. Louis Cardinals may want to double their security system to make sure nobody takes Joshua Baez away from them.
Baez had arguably the greatest MLB debut ever on Saturday in an 8-4 win against the Chicago Cubs. The Dominican-American outfielder hit three home runs in his first three big-league at-bats, spraying dingers in every direction at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Ill.
Baez became the first player ever to hit three homers in his MLB debut, putting him under a national spotlight just one game into his career. Many joked that Baez’s performance immediately put him on the Dodgers’ radar amid the team’s quest to pile on All-Star-caliber players.
MLB is allowing an immediate trade that sends Joshua Baez to the Dodgers for Edwin Diaz and a player to be named later. https://t.co/s3S6O9McM2

The Dodgers are going to poach Joshua Baez, aren't they? https://t.co/k7GAydz5NM

Considering what the Dodgers gave up to land back-to-back Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal before the MLB trade deadline, GM Brandon Gomes may already be thinking about hypnotizing the Cardinals into surrendering Baez in exchange for a signed Shohei Ohtani jersey and a couple of Dodger Dogs.
Cardinals fans can rest a bit easier knowing the deadline has already passed, meaning they get to keep Baez at least through the rest of the year.
