Felix Hernandez’s son Jeremy flashes cannon during ceremonial first pitch (Video)
Seattle Mariners ace Felix Hernandez has gotta be one proud papa.
Hernandez’s 6-year-old son Jeremy took the field before Sunday’s matinee game against the Houston Astros to throw out the ceremonial first pitch along with the children of Hisashi Iwakuma, Seth Smith, and Jesus Sucre. While the other second-generation Mariners had admirable tosses, the younger Hernandez stole the show by firing an absolute laser to home plate.
Like father, like son, indeed. Perfect form. Impeccable routine. And a downright mortar blast for a right arm. Prepare the college recruiting offers. All hail Prince Jeremy.
While the elder Hernandez is a 5-time All-Star and Cy Young winner who boasts a 10-3 record with a 3.08 ERA this season, it seems like his son could be following in his footsteps sooner rather than later.
Though the Hernandez family probably won’t be replacing the Griffeys as the Mariners’ hallmark father-son duo any time soon, it’s great to see that young Jeremy Hernandez is a chip off the old block.
Happy Father’s Day.
