The Boston Red Sox were excited about adding Ian Kinsler to their lineup, but a bad hamstring will limit the second baseman’s contributions to his new team for a little while.
The Red Sox placed Kinsler on the 10-day disabled list on Saturday with a tight hamstring less than a week after acquiring him from the Los Angeles Angels.
Kinsler officially on the DL as the hamstring bug continues to bite the Red Sox. Tony Renda called up from Pawtucket.

Kinsler had left Friday night’s game against the New York Yankees after just one inning. It’s unclear how long he’ll be out of action, but Boston will be hoping it’s not much longer than the ten day minimum.
Kinsler had hits in four of his first ten at bats with the Red Sox. It’s a frustrating loss, but the Red Sox are a deep team, and they could even turn to a somewhat surprising name to fill in at second if they need it.
