Jazz Chisholm scored a run despite losing his shoe

Jazz Chisholm losing his shoe

New York Yankees third baseman Jazz Chisholm dealt with a pretty high degree of difficulty when scoring from second during Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles.

Chisholm was at second base with two out during the second inning of Sunday’s game at Yankee Stadium, and tried to score on a DJ LeMahieu base hit. Chisholm very nearly lost his footing, however, when his left cleat came off while he rounded third.

The throw from the outfield took Orioles catcher Maverick Handley up the line, forcing Chisholm to flail wildly to try to avoid him. He did so, even though he actually lost his other shoe after crossing the plate.

Every so often, you’ll see someone have to make a play without a shoe, though it usually happens more often in basketball. It is a rarity in baseball, especially when there is going to be a play at the plate.

The Yankees wound up winning 4-2, and Chisholm put the team ahead with an RBI double in the bottom of the eighth. Maybe the shoeless thing worked for him.
