The New York Mets have been on a tear as of late, and they got some good news on Wednesday regarding one of their most important players.
Outfielder Jeff McNeil suffered a hamstring injury while trying to beat out an infield single in the ninth inning of the Mets’ 5-3 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night, and he is expected to be placed on the injured list. However, an MRI on Wednesday revealed only a minor strain, so he should be back in 10 days.

The Mets have won 15 of their last 18 games and suddenly find themselves just two games back in the NL wild card race. McNeil is having a breakout season and ranks fourth in MLB with a .332 average. He has also belted 15 home runs, driven in 55 runs and has an OPS of .929.
It goes without saying that the Mets need McNeil if they want to continue to make a playoff push, so they dodged a bullet with his injury being a minor one.
