It may only be spring training, but Jeff Samardzija’s umpiring criticisms are already in midseason form.
The San Francisco Giants right-hander started Sunday’s Cactus League game against the rival Los Angeles Dodgers. After a supposed missed strike-three call by home plate umpire Mark Ripperger in the second inning, Samardzija took this funny shot at him, per John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Jeff Samardzija thought he had strike three for final out in second and started walking to dugout, but umpire Mark Ripperger called a ball. “I just thought everybody had tee times here,” Samardzija said. “Apparently, Mark doesn’t have a tee time.”

The Dodgers would go on to win the game 9-3, and Samardzija took the loss after giving up one earned run on three hits and three walks in two innings pitched. If Ripperger wants to clap back at The Shark though, he may want to look to Kirk Gibson for some advice.
