New York Mets closer Jeurys Familia was arrested on Monday night for a domestic violence charge.
A police report says Familia knowingly or recklessly caused bodily injury to another person. The victim had a scratch on the chest and bruise to the right cheek, according to the police report.
Familia was charged with simple assault.
The Mets released a statement on the arrest. “The matter was brought to our attention and we are monitoring the situation,” the team said.
