Joe Mauer has been in the league for 14 years now, but his current injury has to be a first even for him.
The Minnesota Twins first baseman was forced to leave Friday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers with a neck issue, which was described as “tightness.”

After the game, Mauer told reporters that he first injured the neck during a series last weekend against the Los Angeles Angels when he dove for a foul ball. The six-time All-Star also indicated that it was a day-to-day situation.
Joe Mauer injured his neck making a dive attempt on a foul ball in Anaheim last weekend. He's hopeful it's just a day to day situation and he can return soon.

Mauer, 35, is having a fairly solid 2018 campaign so far, hitting .287 with a home run and 11 RBIs. However, an injury to his neck area is slightly worrying when you consider the issues that forced Mauer to abandon catching for good.
