Jordan Montgomery gave the saddest interview after being booed off field
Jordan Montgomery gave a sad interview on Wednesday after his latest rough pitching outing.
Montgomery was knocked out of his start against the San Francisco Giants at Chase Field in Phoenix, Ariz. during the third inning. After holding the Giants scoreless through the first two innings, the Diamondbacks southpaw fell apart in the third. He allowed seven straight Giants to reach base to begin the inning — six via hits and one via a walk. He allowed two home runs and was removed with his team down 6-1.
According to USA Today baseball reporter Bob Nightengale, Montgomery exited to boos.

He lasted just 2 innings, giving up 7 hits, 3 walks, 2 homers and 6 runs.

After the game, which Arizona lost 9-3, Montgomery expressed just how awful he feels.

“Yeah, you just feel like a piece of crap every day,” Montgomery lamented. “I feel like every time I go out there, we lose. Just got to keep trying to be better. … it’s hard to see any positives right now.”
Montgomery is in a very similar spot as Blake Snell. Both are Scott Boras clients who signed extremely late in the year since they never received the contract offers they were hoping for. They missed spring training and are both paying the price now with rough starts to the season.
Montgomery is 3-4 with a 6.80 ERA over 9 starts. Snell was 0-3 with a 9.51 ERA for the Giants before being sidelined by a groin injury.
