Jordan Walker was more than comfortable hearing the boo birds sing in enemy territory Monday to win the 2026 MLB Home Run Derby.
The St. Louis Cardinals slugger came from behind against hometown favorite Kyle Schwarber to become the home run king in front of a hostile crowd at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pa. Walker connected on six home runs in a row to close out his final round, needing all six of them to leave the yard in order to claim his trophy.

Asked about getting booed by Phillies fans throughout the event, Walker had the perfect response.
“I was once told you don’t boo nobodies,” Walker said on the Netflix broadcast. “So it feels pretty good.”

Fans seeing Walker for the first time during Monday’s competition got quite the introduction to the Cardinals star. Schwarber came into the Home Run Derby with an MLB-best 32 home runs, and Walker matched him dinger for dinger in front of a partisan Philly crowd.
Walker has become a franchise cornerstone for the Cardinals this season, posting a career-best slash line of .295/.354/.532 with 22 home runs and a league-leading 72 RBIs across 93 games.
Walker has definitely turned into a somebody.
