Report: Josh Donaldson has four-year offers from multiple teams

Josh Donaldson

Josh Donaldson bet on himself by signing a one-year deal with the Atlanta Braves last year, and that gamble is about to pay off in a big way.

Donaldson turned 34 earlier this month, but there are still teams that want to sign the star third baseman to a long-term deal. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that Donaldson has four-year offers on the table from multiple teams, with two of them believed to be the Minnesota Twins and Washington Nationals.

The Nationals have been aggressively pursuing Donaldson as a possible Anthony Rendon replacement after Rendon signed with the Los Angeles Angels. Minnesota already has a third baseman in Miguel Sano, but Rosenthal reports that the Twins would move Sano to first if they can sign Donaldson.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Braves are also still in on Donaldson, though they may not want to give him four years. Either way, it seems like a foregone conclusion at this point that Donaldson is going to get at least $100 million — either with a four-year deal or a three-year deal that includes a higher average annual value.

Donaldson hit 37 homers and had a .900 OPS in his lone season with the Braves last year. He has already spent some serious coin this offseason for a good reason, which makes sense considering he knows he has a massive pay day coming his way.
