Kyle Crick, Felipe Vazquez fight was over clubhouse music
Kyle Crick and Felipe Vazquez were fighting on Tuesday night like a couple of roommates in a college dorm, only things got physical.
On Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Nubyjas Wilborn reported that the two Pirates pitchers fought the night before over music in the clubhouse.
Here is Wilborn’s account of what happened:
Crick had returned from the shower after his pregame routine, and Vazquez asked Crick to turn off some music that was playing at Crick’s locker.
Crick told him no, and an argument ensued. According to the sources, Vazquez walked across the visiting clubhouse to Crick. Vazquez told Crick to hit him. Crick said no and turned away.
Vazquez then reportedly punched Crick twice, who retaliated.
Crick suffered a season-ending finger injury in the fight, while Vazquez needed six stitches on his nose. The Pirates fined both players and admonished them in a statement Tuesday.
“The behavior exhibited by these two players last night is unacceptable, inconsistent with the standards expected of a major league player and will not be tolerated by the organization,” Pirates GM Neal Huntington said in a statement.
The last thing the team wanted to see was players get hurt for such a silly reason.
