Matt Olson’s bizarre handshake with Braves teammate goes viral
Matt Olson and Orlando Arcia sure have a strange way of showing their affection for one another.
The Atlanta Braves teammates went viral before Saturday’s game against the Oakland A’s for their highly unusual handshake. Olson and Arcia were seen in the dugout doing a shake that featured them flicking their noses and then [checks notes] slapping each other in the face.
Take a look.

It looks like the two might need some more time to rehearse. Olson seemed a bit trigger-happy there, Charlie Murphy-ing his teammate about a quarter of a second before Arcia did so to him.
Perhaps that was a way for Olson and Arcia to try to break out of their respective slumps this season. After both making the NL All-Star team last season, the former is hitting just .240 while the latter is even worse at .234.
The slap-shake didn’t really bring good luck either since the Braves went on to lose to the A’s 11-9. But at least it was still far better than this failed MLB dugout handshake of old.
