Fans react to Jared Goff catching touchdown pass on ‘Detroit Special’ trick play

Jared Goff ready to score

The Detroit Lions scored a touchdown on Monday night against the Seattle Seahawks using a trick play many know as the “Philly Special,” which led to some great comments about Jared Goff.

The Lions had 2nd-and-goal from the Seattle 7-yard line while leading 21-14 in the third quarter of their game at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich. Detroit ran a play where Goff took a snap from shotgun and faked an inside handoff before tossing to Amon-Ra St. Brown for a reverse.

The trick came into play when St. Brown passed the ball back to Goff for a touchdown.

That was a perfectly executed play, and it put the Lions up by two scores. Fans loved it and especially loved seeing the versatility from Goff.

Even more impressive than Goff’s catch was the perfect throw by St. Brown. That ball’s not on the money and it’s probably knocked down or even intercepted. What a great pass.

That was Goff’s first career receiving touchdown, as you likely figured.
