Juan Soto cannot seem to squash the injury bug this season.

The New York Mets slugger was taken out in the sixth inning of Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Citi Field in Queens, N.Y. He was removed due to what the team called left calf soreness.

The team announced after the 4-2 loss that Soto was set to undergo imaging to determine the severity of the injury. Mets manager Andy Green admitted there is indeed a level of concern within the clubhouse that Soto could be headed for another stint on the injured list.

“He just had a recurrence of symptoms in the left calf,” Green told reporters after the game. “Certainly hoped we were behind it and done talking about this, but he felt it pushing off going to second base there when he was on the bases. At this point, we’ll likely get an image tomorrow and try to see where he’s at.

“Any time you get an image done, you’re concerned — concerned enough to go do it.”

Soto drew two walks during a pair of plate appearances against the Dodgers. He was visibly laboring on the base paths in the third inning as he ran toward second base on a ground ball off the bat of Bo Bichette.

Soto’s injury-plagued season pretty much sums up the Mets’ 2026 campaign. The Dominican missed 15 games early in the year due to a strain in the opposite calf. He also left a game last month due to a back issue.
