Jeff McNeil is trying to use anything he can to convince his wife to adopt a puppy, including the home run he hit on Friday.
The North Shore Animal League had some adoptable puppies out at Citi Field prior to Friday’s New York Mets-Pittsburgh Pirates game. McNeil, who leads MLB in batting average (.340), fell in love with one of the pups and tried to convince his wife Tatiana to agree to adopt the dog. They decided to table the discussion until Saturday.

Fast forward to the game, and McNeil smacked a 3-run home run in the third inning, helping the Mets win 6-3. He tried to convince his wife that the puppy was the good-luck charm.

“If my wife wants more homers, then we have to get a puppy.”
Classic words from McNeil. Something tells me he will prevail in this situation. Who can really say no to a puppy?
