Mets reportedly offered Travis d’Arnaud to Brewers for Jonathan Lucroy
A backstop exchange may be in the sights of the New York Mets as they look to defend their National League pennant.
According to a report by Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News on Sunday, the Mets recently offered catcher Travis d’Arnaud to the Milwaukee Brewers in a potential trade for Jonathan Lucroy. No deal is said to be imminent, however, and the Brewers apparently turned down a straight d’Arnaud-for-Lucroy swap.
Bob Klapisch of The Record is also reporting on Monday that a Lucroy-to-the-Mets deal is simply “not happening.”
Am told Lucroy to #Mets is "not happening" according to source familiar with talks w #Brewers.

A Swiss Army knife catcher, the 30-year-old Lucroy has been a coveted commodity this month with the Texas Rangers expressing interest as well. On the other hand, d’Arnaud, 27, has been injured for much of the year and has a modest .246 batting average to go along with a .641 OPS.
The 52-45 Mets are stuck in the National League Wild Card hunt at the moment, but the acquisition of a two-way catcher, Lucroy or otherwise, could really help them rediscover some of their playoff magic from last season.
