Report: Mets reached out to Dallas Keuchel again recently
The New York Mets could use some help with their starting rotation, and Dallas Keuchel remains a free agent despite the fact that the regular season began more than two weeks ago. The left-hander has been linked to the Mets for quite some time, and there is apparently still interest there.
Mike Puma of the New York Post reports that the Mets inquired about Keuchel recently, though he says there remains “skepticism the two sides will reach an agreement.”
The Mets have inquired about Dallas Keuchel recently. That said, I was told there is much skepticism the two sides will reach an agreement. Of course, it soon could come down to who is more desperate, the Mets or Keuchel?

Jason Vargas has been a complete disaster as a starter for the Mets in the early going. He has a 14.21 ERA and has allowed eight earned runs in his two starts, so New York could decide adding another starter is a must.
However, asking price has been an issue with Keuchel since free agency began. The Houston Astros reportedly made multiple offers to bring him back last month, but he obviously wants more money than they were willing to pay him. It’s shocking that Keuchel has not found a home, but we’re seeing an almost identical situation with one of the game’s top relievers. Something has to give eventually.
