Mike Trout, even in MLB Year 15, continues to be the epitome of class.
The Los Angeles Angels star Trout was involved in an unusual incident during Saturday’s game against the Astros in Houston. While trying to make a catch on a ball that was hit into the right-field corner, Trout had the ball ripped out of his glove by an Astros fan in the stands. The incident resulted only in a foul-ball call though and no ruling of fan interference (video here).
After the game, Trout pulled an immensely classy move for the fan, who was attending the game with his son. Trout met up with the father-and-son duo after the contest, chatting with them and signing some memorabilia for them as well (including a bat and even the foul ball from the incident).

Sam Blum of The Athletic shared the tremendous video.
The fan, who identified himself as Jared Whelan, told Blum in an interview shortly after the incident that he was only trying to protect his son from the foul ball and didn’t realize that Trout had a play on the ball. Whelan would soon be removed from his seat by stadium security at Daikin Park (to loud boos from the Astros crowd) but ended up just being relocated to a different seating area along with his son.
As for Trout, who finished the game with a hit and two RBIs as the Angels won 4-1, he could be heard in the video apologizing to Whelan for Whelan being removed from his seat. The three-time MVP Trout has already produced countless classy moments over the years with fans and was able to do so again on Saturday night in the midst of an awkward situation.
