Less than two weeks into the MLB offseason, it appears that there is already an All-Star hitter available on the trade market.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported in a piece published Tuesday that Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm is on the trade block. Passan notes that the Phillies would like to “shake up their team” after their disappointing early playoff exit this past season.
Bohm, 28, is fresh off his first All-Star appearance in 2024. A career-long Phillie who was drafted by the team in 2018, Bohm hit .280 with 15 home runs and 97 RBIs in 143 regular season games this year.

But Bohm had a nightmarish postseason for Philadelphia, batting 1-for-13 (.077) during the team’s four-game NLDS loss to the New York Mets. Bohm was also benched for Game 2 of that series, which ended up being the only game that the Phillies won.
The righty hitter has struggled with his defense in the past as well and once even feuded with Phillies fans because of it. But with two more years of club control remaining, Bohm figures to be a nice trade asset if Philadelphia does indeed decide to move on from him (perhaps with Edmundo Sosa or some outside addition taking over at third base instead).
