Mookie Betts furious after Yankees fan’s disrespectful move
One New York Yankees fan on Tuesday took fan interference to an entirely different level, and Mookie Betts was not happy about it.
Betts’ Los Angeles Dodgers led the Yankees 2-0 entering the bottom of the 1st inning at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, N.Y. Yankees leadoff hitter Gleyber Torres sliced an 84-mph slider to foul ground in deep right field.
Betts had just enough room to get the out in foul territory. But after the Dodgers star made the catch right in front of the stands, a Yankees fan grabbed Betts’ glove and pried the ball loose.
"Well, A for effort."

The fan wasn’t trying to make a catch on instinct, similar to how most fan interference plays go. The man forcibly pried the ball out of Betts’ glove after the catch was already made.
Betts was understandably fuming after the blatant fan interference. Fortunately for him, right-field umpire Mark Carlson saw everything unfold. The veteran official immediately made the right call and deemed Torres out.
Given the Yankees’ uninspiring play in Games 1 through 3, it’s not surprising to see the home fans trying to take matters into their own hands. That one fan’s 15 seconds of fame, however, got him kicked out of his seats.
Coincidentally, Torres was also the batter when a Dodgers fan committed interference in Game 1 during a much more critical spot in the game.
