Nationals had funniest reaction on Twitter to getting demolished by Cardinals

It may only be Spring Training, but the St. Louis Cardinals are already handing out beatings.

The Cardinals turned the Washington Nationals into absolute paste during Wednesday’s Grapefruit League game. In a score worthy of a Space Jam-esque “Kinda one sided, isn’t it?” graphic, St. Louis won by a 29-8 final.

Nationals starter Anibal Sanchez got pummeled for ten earned runs in four innings. Three pitchers later, Nationals righty Cade Cavalli outdid Sanchez by allowing 11 runs (ten earned) in just 2.1 innings. Paul DeJong led the way for St. Louis, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and five RBIs. He was one of 16 (yes, 16) different Cardinals to reach base safely during the contest.

The Nationals had the funniest reaction on Twitter to their shellacking. They posted screenshots from MLB Gameday showing all the times the Cardinals had scored. The Nationals wrote in their caption “ok we get it @Cardinals” and also included the “I ain’t reading all that” meme.

Wednesday’s game was obviously an exhibition, so the Nationals should be able to forget about it pretty quickly. But this may have been the universe’s way of evening things out considering that the Nationals are usually on the other end of these kinds of drubbings.
