Noah Syndergaard forced to exit after apparent recurrence of blister issue
New York Mets fireballer Noah Syndergaard continues to be plagued by blisters to start the 2017 season.
Syndergaard had a strong outing in Friday’s start against the Miami Marlins, giving up just one earned run on six hits, zero walks, and four strikeouts. But he had to exit after six innings and 87 pitches due to an apparent recurrence of a blister on his pitching hand, per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

The All-Star right-hander was also forced to leave his Opening Day start against the Atlanta Braves with the blister issue. Syndergaard then saw his next start get pushed back but delivered a quality outing, throwing seven innings and striking out nine in a victory over these same Marlins last Sunday.
We heard recently that the Mets were seeking added pitching depth with the injuries to their starters continuing to mount, so they’ll keep their fingers crossed that this doesn’t develop into a bigger issue for Thor.
UPDATE: DiComo has since clarified that it actually wasn’t a blister recurrence for Syndergaard, but rather that he tore his fingernail back. The Mets have said that he will be fine for his next start. Crisis apparently averted.
