Orioles ban pies to the face for safety reasons
Baltimore Orioles star center fielder Adam Jones broke some disappointing news to the team’s fans on Saturday.
In three tweets, Jones shared that the Orioles are no longer going to be hitting each other with pies to the face in their postgame celebrations because of safety reasons:
I might have some TERRIBLE news for O's fans

No more pies can be delivered to the faces of O's players. But @dangerouspies can we still work together.

It's no ones fault. It's just about safety. At the end of the day it can be dangerous so we're being smart.

In addition to no pies to the face, The Baltimore Sun’s Peter Schmuck says players will not be allowed to ride Solowheels or hoverboards. Those Orioles are really cracking down here.
The Orioles aren’t the only team to do pies to the face as a postgame celebration, but they certainly made it a regular thing. And this policy effects more than just the players; Jones probably can’t hit fans in the face with a pie the way he did in this 2014 video.
