Orioles prospect came up with amazing way to throw offseason bullpens

Baseball players are largely left alone during the offseason, so they have to find some way to keep in shape without the watchful eye of the organization that they play for. One Baltimore Orioles prospect went above and beyond to do just that.

Orioles pitching prospect Keegan Akin took that to a whole new level. On Saturday, he admitted that he’d built himself a barn just to throw bullpens in during the winter.

Michigan gets cold and snowy during winter, so if you’re going to live there, you’d better find a way to work out. Building your own bullpen barn is a great way of doing that.

Akin, a 23-year-old left-hander, went 14-7 with a 3.27 ERA at AA Bowie last season. If he’s demonstrating this kind of dedication to his craft, the Orioles must be pleased, and he has a bright future ahead of him.
