Pedro Martinez is still throwing chin music, even in retirement.
The former Boston Red Sox ace commented on Twitter about the bench-clearing fight between Boston and the rival New York Yankees Wednesday. The brawl occurred after Tyler Austin charged the mound in response to being hit by a pitch from Red Sox reliever Joe Kelly. Pedro says the only mistake was not hitting Austin earlier.
The only thing I would had done different than Joe Kelly tonight, is I would’ve hit Tyler Austin at his previous at bat. Other than that, Kelly executed perfectly #YankeesvsRedSox

Indeed, Austin upset the Red Sox coming in with a spikes-high slide in the third inning, and he wasn’t hit until the seventh.
Nobody should be surprised by Pedro advocating for sending a message with a hit by pitch. He had an old school mentality and was never afraid to drill an opponent. Heck, he even had this interesting comment about the players he hit.
