The Cincinnati Reds made a huge hire on Thursday when they lured Terry Francona out of retirement, and they celebrated with the perfect social media post.
Francona has agreed to a deal to become the next manager of the Reds. Shortly before they released a statement on Friday officially announcing the news, Cincinnati’s social media team shared two hilarious posts on X:

For those who don’t get the reference, the Reds were alluding to one of the most viral videos of the last decade. The “put it in reverse, Ter!” video makes a comeback every year on 4th of July, as it should.

The 65-year-old Francona was last with Cleveland from 2013-2023 and won AL Manager of the Year three times. He stepped away following the 2023 due to health issues.
Prior to his stint in Cleveland, Francona had a successful tenure as the manager of the Boston Red Sox. He led the team to World Series titles in 2004 and 2007.
