Cubs’ Seiya Suzuki gets ultimate redemption after his egregious blunder
Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki had fans on an emotional roller coaster during a Saturday showdown against the Cincinnati Reds at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Ill.
Reds catcher Luke Maile batted with the bases loaded and two outs against Cubs starter Justin Steele. Maile popped up a 90-mph fastball to right field for what should have been a routine out.
Both Suzuki and center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong both easily got under the ball. Suzuki even had time to wave off his teammate. But the Japanese slugger muffed the catch, allowing three unearned runs to score.

A chance at redemption came quickly for Suzuki. He came up to the plate under the exact same circumstances as the play he botched a half-inning earlier. Suzuki blasted a 3-2 pitch past the bleachers in left field for a grand slam to tie the game at 4-4.

Hollywood couldn’t have scripted an inning any better than that.
Between Suzuki’s topsy-turvy 2nd inning and the San Diego Padres’ ridiculous 11-hit 8th inning on Friday against the Kansas City Royals, the MLB scriptwriters have been spinning gold this weekend.
