Squirrel delays Twins-Indians game for five minutes (Video)

Saturday’s game between the Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Indians was delayed for nearly five minutes after a rather frisky squirrel found his way onto the field.

Fans and players were reduced to mere onlookers as the grounds crew chased the fury friend all over the park, trying desperately to get it to exit through a left field door.

The squirrel had other ideas, however. After venturing into the infield, it failed in an attempt to scale the wall behind home plate and eventually jumped into the stands after traveling up the third base line.

The whole ordeal did not sit well with Twins pitcher Jose Berrios, who threw his arms into the air while huffing and puffing. Minnesota manager Paul Molitor also left the dugout to speak with homeplate umpire C.B. Bucknor about the ruckus.

The Progressive Field crowd, on the other hand, loved it. The squirrel received the loudest ovation of the day and was steadily cheered until it eventually exited through the stands.

Unfortunately for the Indians, the squirrel did little to rally their fortunes. Michael Brantley promptly flied out following the delay, and the Indians went on to lose by a score of 4-1.
