Mets minor league team starts accidental fire with fireworks
A New York Mets’ minor league team’s fireworks show on Thursday did not go as planned.
The St. Lucie Mets, a Single-A team of the Mets located in Port St. Lucie, Florida, tried to have a fireworks show after the team’s July 4th game. Unfortunately things did not go well and they set off a fire at First Data Field.

The field is currently undergoing a $60 million renovation. A fan in attendance says an area by the woods that was under construction is what caught fire. The county’s fire department was able to help extinguish things.
If you are familiar with the complex, the woods that are next to Peacock caught fire. That whole area was under construction including the practice field next to it. Thankful for the @StLucieFireDist acting quickly and helped extinguish would could’ve been a much worse situation

Allow us to be the 100th ones to make the obvious joke that the Mets are such a dumpster fire even their minor league team’s fireworks show started a fire.
What’s unreal is that a fire also broke out at the stadium in 2017.

Last year the Mets’ Triple-A team had a mishap during a game too. Maybe they should just shelve things on that front.
