Troy Tulowitzki admits extra motivation in spring debut vs. Blue Jays
Troy Tulowitzki, now with the New York Yankees, seems to harbor some lingering bitterness toward the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Blue Jays released Tulowitzki late last year and he ultimately signed with their division rivals in New York. On Monday, he made his spring debut for the Yankees against Toronto, and he homered two pitches into his very first plate appearance.
Coincidence, or was he a little bit motivated to go up against the team that released him? It turns out, by Tulowitzki’s own admission, it was the latter.
Did Troy Tulowitzki have any extra motivation against the Blue Jays today? "No doubt. That was a team that told me I couldn't play anymore." He homered two pitches into his first spring at-bat.

The Blue Jays dumped Tulowitzki with $38 million left on his deal. He’ll still see that money, but the message was pretty clear, and Tulowitzki seems to be starting out 2019 with a major chip on his shoulder.
