Spike Lee had a hard time doing the right thing ahead of Wednesday’s New York Yankees playoff game.
The famous film director Lee was in attendance at Yankee Stadium in New York, N.Y. for Wednesday’s Game 2 of the AL Wild Card series between the Yankees and the Boston Red Sox. But video surfaced of an ugly incident involving Lee that took place before first pitch.
Andy Slater of FOX Sports South Florida reports that Lee was dining in the stadium before the game and became irate at a fan who was filming him. The fan was reportedly filming Lee while he was eating and asked Lee how he felt about Palestine.
The video showed Lee standing up from his table to go after the fan and even raising a fist at one point. Lee could be heard yelling, “Why’d you come over to me?” at the fan but ultimately being held back by others who were in the immediate vicinity.

The New York Post further reports that the fan had requested on camera for Lee to say “F–k Palestine.” Ultimately, the fan in question reportedly ended up being kicked out.
Lee, 69, is a very well-known New York sports fan in addition to his award-winning background in film. He has also expressed his support for Palestine on multiple occasions, including wearing pro-Palestine attire while sitting courtside at the 2026 NBA All-Star Game. Though Lee has brought good vibes to Yankees games in the past, the vibes at this week’s playoff game were clearly far worse.
