It got literally wet and wild for the Milwaukee Brewers after their 5-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday, courtesy of William Contreras.
The Brewers star catcher grabbed hold of a hose following the victory at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pa., and started spraying high-pressure water all over the field. You can check out the video of his celebration here.
Contreras and the Brewers had a reason to celebrate the win a little more than usual. By beating the Pirates, Milwaukee officially clinched yet another National League Central Division title, and it’s the fourth straight season the Brewers have done so. No other team in the division can claim the same feat, as the Brewers have once again stamped their class all over their rivals in the NL Central.
The 28-year-old Contreras contributed to the Brewers’ win, going 1-for-5 with a run score. But Milwaukee’s pitching came through most, with Jacob Misiorowski tossing five scoreless innings while striking out seven Pittsburgh hitters. Three Brewers relievers held the fort after Misiorowski exited the mound, and the Pirates didn’t put a run on the board until the eighth inning.
The job is far from finished for Milwaukee, however. The Brewers are still on a mission to secure the best record overall in the big leagues. They improved to 94-59 after taking down Pittsburgh, just two games ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers and 2.5 games in front of the Tampa Bay Rays.
