Amed Rosario is whatever the opposite of a fan favorite is right now.
The New York Yankees infielder Rosario had a mistake-filled game against the rival Boston Red Sox on Saturday. In the fourth inning at Yankee Stadium in New York, N.Y., Rosario was on second base during an at-bat by teammate Heliot Ramos.
After Ramos lifted a fly ball into center field that was misplayed by Ceddanne Rafaela, Rosario managed to get himself thrown out at the plate. It appears that Rosario got a bad read on the ball and was positioning himself for a tag-up if Rafaela had made the catch.

Then in the very next inning, Rosario had another gaffe. He caught a line drive by Boston’s Andruw Monasterio and attempted to double off Adley Rutschman at first base … but completely spiked the throw. As a result, Rutschman was able to take second base and later went on to score for the Red Sox.

Yankees fans completely piled on Rosario for the back-to-back goofs. Many even called for Rosario to be dumped by the team.

If Amed Rosario isn’t hitting lefties which we brought him here to do, not playing good defense and now making base running miscues, what’s the use for him?

Rosario, 30, arrived on the Yankees in a 2025 trade with the Washington Nationals and re-signed in New York on a one-year deal last offseason. But he is batting only .225 this season as a negative-WAR player and is just the latest Yankee to be riddled with mistakes lately.
