Yankees make 2 notable lineup changes for Game 3 of World Series
Staring at a 2-0 deficit in the World Series, the New York Yankees are tinkering with things a little bit.
On Monday afternoon, the Yankees released their lineup for that evening’s Game 3 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Their lineup features two notable changes. Jose Trevino is now starting at catcher instead of Austin Wells (who had started the first two games), and Anthony Rizzo and Anthony Volpe are switching places in the batting order (Volpe is moving up to No. 6 and Rizzo is moving down to No. 7).
Here is the full lineup announcement.

Wells has gone 1-for-8 (.125) in the World Series so far and is now at just .098 on the postseason overall, so the Yankees will now try their luck with the ex-All-Star Trevino, who has gotten just three playoff at-bats this year. Meanwhile, switching Rizzo and Volpe in the batting order means that the Yankees are breaking up their lefty hitters (Rizzo and Jazz Chisholm, who hits in the No. 5 spot).
Of course, the Yankees are keeping the status quo in one prominent area — Aaron Judge is still hitting in the No. 3 spot in the order. Judge’s playoff woes have continued this year as he is now hitting .199 in the postseason, including going 1-for-9 (.111) through the first two contests of the World Series. But the Yankees will keeping Judge right where he is in what may very well be yet another controversial World Series decision by them.
